Coal Storage Silos - Scofield, Utah
CLIENT
Coastal States Energy Company
Coastal States Energy Company chose Ibberson to design and construct coal storage silos for their coal plant in Scofield, Utah.
The 70-foot-diameter by 202-foot-high silos have 70-degree stainless steel hopper bottoms. The foundation for the silos was completed in the fall of 1981, followed by the slipform construction process which began in the spring of 1982. In an effort to reduce the schedule time by three weeks, the tunnel walls were slipped at the same time as the silos.
The project was completed in September, ahead of schedule and within budget.
