SCOPE
Design, Engineering and Construction
Ibberson was awarded the contract to design and build of the new poultry feed mill. This was one of three facilities being constructed on a site that included a high-speed rail unloading facility capable of unloading 110 car unit grain trains in approximately 12 hours.
This state-of-the-art feedmilling facility includes 43 ingredient bins in the milltower, 44 loadout bins, eight-bin concrete annex, and two corrugated steel bins with a total storage capacity of approximately 33,500 tons.
Feed ingredients are received at the feed mill through separate truck and rail receiving stations at a rate of 120 tons per hour. Feed ingredient inventory is managed through the use of a state-of-the-art sonic level indicating system that provides continuous inventory status in each of the ingredient storage bins.
Batching for the feed mill includes twin 5-ton major ingredient scales, 1-ton minor ingredient scale, 16-bin micro system and an 8-bin bulk bag unloading system. Mixing is accomplished with a 7-ton twin shaft drop bottom mixer equipped with six manifolds for the addition of liquids.
The separate grain storage annex receives commodities from the high-speed rail unloading terminal at a rate of 790 tph. Grinding operations in the annex include two gravity-fed rollermills and one gravity hammermill.
Finished feed loadout system includes 44 loadout bins divided into two loadout driveways. Each loadout includes a shuttle conveyor system for truck filling and a loadout driveway truck scale.
